Grease Gun

Grease Gun

It’s acceptable to leave leftover grease in a canister of greases. However, there are safety and cleaning issues involved. To leave enough room for air to flow, you’ll want to pull the canister out of the container, but be aware that this increases the surface area of the canister.

In order to safely leave left over grease in your canister of greases, you should draw the canister out and place it in a sealed surface with an air tight lid. It’s acceptable to leave some grease in your canister in order to keep the contents fresh and ready to use next time. It is suggested, however, to release the air pressure from the grease gun by drawing back on the plunger and then locking the spring back into the closed position. Otherwise, left over oil can separate from the grease as time goes by in storage because of the increased air pressure applied to the canister by the plunger.

Next, you’ll need to clean out the canister using your air compressor and a can opener. While you are cleaning out the canister, take special care not to damage your can opener. Remove the handle and dip the end of the handle in hot soapy water. You’ll need to work quickly while the grease is still hot, but don’t expose the stainless steel handle to too much heat. Once you have the handle cool, replace the lid and cap, securing the can with airtight lids. Use the can opener to fasten the cap on the top of the canister of grease.

Next, you’ll need to take your portable grease gun and spray each side of the canister with the grease solution, being careful to avoid touching the stainless steel area. Make sure all of the solution goes inside the canister. If some solution leaks out, you’ll need to clean that up before proceeding to the next step. You can take your nozzle, and spray a very thin layer of the solution onto the inside wall of the barrel. Then, use your air compressor to power through a quick spray of oil (not enough to overflow the canister) and the area should be free of any greasy build-up.

Now, you will use your rag to wipe the gun down, making sure to get any greasy build-up on the barrel to the outside. The most important part of this process, however, is making sure that your plunger doesn’t touch the walls of the barrel or the walls of the canister itself. For this reason, you must wipe down each side of the barrel and the canister with a rag before proceeding to the next step. Once both surfaces are clean and dry, you can close the gun and place the cap back on, and your gun is ready for the final stage.

The last step in greasing your gun properly is to fill the reservoir. With your canister filled to the proper capacity, pump the plunger full and let the air circulate around the barrel. While the air is circulating, use your rag to wipe down the inside of the gun to remove any excess pressure. After removing the excess pressure, you should make sure that you don’t run the nozzle any deeper into the barrel, or else the seal may be broken. Once your gun has reached the proper air pressure, then you can close the valve and your gun is now properly greased and ready for use.

Some final tips for correctly using your grease gun include ensuring that you have the correct filling method and ensuring that you leave enough time between filling and resealing the barrel. Most guns can hold up to 5 shots without needing to be refilled. However, if you notice that your gun seems to be running rough then you may want to increase the amount of air compression. If you follow these simple steps, you will find that using a grease gun can be an extremely easy task.

If you want to make sure that you get the most out of your grease gun, then it is important to make sure that you understand how to correctly use it. This means that you need to take the time to learn how the gun works. If you do not think that you will be able to learn how to use the gun properly, then you should invest in some basic gun buying lessons. There are many resources available online, where you can take lessons and learn how to properly use your equipment. Before you go out and buy your own grease gun, you should make sure that you understand how they work.
